Restless? Travel as a change of environment

Solo Flow Series: Fulfillment through exploration, reorganizing space, and engaging in nature

Takes with Nads is a travel-based newsletter, and one of my aims is to expand readers’ perspective on what “travel” looks like. The Cambridge dictionary defines travel as "to make a journey [by] traveling to something by something, [as in] travel the world”. But notice how the question ‘where’ is left open for interpretation. To define travel, as a global traveler, I have to reflect on what each traveling experience has in common. No matter if I’m visiting a small town in Georgia or flying to Berlin, its the aspect of changing my environment that propels me to travel.

As sensory beings, we can feel and experience change in the environment through the noise of daily traffic, the smell of the trees, and the scenery of the landscape. I believe the scale of change depends on the actions we take in that space.

For instance, we feel called to rearrange our room or change the color of our walls, and, sometimes, that small change can be the refreshment we needed. However, a holistic rejuvenation may take as much change as it calls for. My good friend reminded me that “whatever you put your time and energy into the most is the results you’ll get”, and just like alchemy, life is a balance of intention and action to reach the goals we create for ourselves. Alchemy is such an incredible concept, but I’ll save that for another newsletter 🙃

Regardless of how busy you feel you are or your daily responsibilities, changing your environment can have a positive impact on your wellbeing, offering healthy ways to become more adaptable, open-minded, grateful, resilient, and, at the very least, learn more about yourself.

From traveling in your local area to across the world, follow along for attainable ways to gain the fulfillment of traveling no matter your situation!
